Joseph F Spinney

April 8, 1972 — March 21, 2023

He lit up a room With his smile and stories Great laughter and joy. For anyone who has met Joe, it's hard not to forget him. His big presence (in more ways than one) truly lit up a room. He was not just a man of large stature, but his welcoming personality and big stories kept everyone in a room entertained. He was always willing to help someone in need, even if he just met you. A devoted husband, loving father, awesome "OG" (grandpa) and loyal friend. If you had a question about anything, you would go to Joe. He would have the answers! He was a master smoker (of brisket, tri-tip - anything!), provider of the best shave ice, loved a good deep-sea fishing trip, cooked the best food, had the coolest gadgets and always shared his interests and hobbies with those around him. Joe was known everywhere he went. Whether in the neighborhood, at work, going out with friends, trying a new restaurant or at home, he brought joy and laughter. Born in Westbrook, Maine on April 8, 1972 to Don and Dawnna Spinney, from the beginning he brought joy, laughter, mischief and cheekiness. Especially to his older sister, Stacie. When Stacie started dating, unbeknownst to Stacie, Joe created an application for anyone who wanted to date her. He has always protected those he loves. Joe found the love of his life, Kathy, and they married in August 2002. They started their adventures together - too many to mention. They truly made each other the best versions of themselves and had fun together. Joe was a dedicated worker. In his early adult years, he worked as a nurse in hospitals but found the perfect job with the Orange County Crime Scene Department until the county went bankrupt. As the last to be hired, he was the first to be let go. He briefly worked as a pediatric hospice nurse until he joined the Department of Corrections as a MTA (half medic, half officer). But after some time, the state separated that role into two and Joe decided to go the correctional officer route, though he still held on to his nursing skills. He worked his way up in Corrections for over 20 years until he became a Captain. A true accomplishment. But one of his biggest life accomplishments was having two children - Tiffany and Joseph Jr. Then adopting his stepdaughter, Diana, into his life. He leaves with them and his four grandchildren a great legacy to continue on. Service Thomas Miller Mortuary 1118 East Sixth Street Corona, CA 92879 (951) 737-3244 | Thursday 4/6, 11:30 am
