Joseph George Haddy

March 17, 1920 — April 9, 2015

Joseph George Haddy passed away on April 9, 2015. He was 95 years old and a member of the Greatest Generation and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend. He was born in Walters, Minnesota on March 17, 1920 and was the first born son of Lebanese immigrants who came to America in 1910. Joe graduated from High School in Kiester, Minnesota in 1937, served in the United States Army under General Patton from 1943 to 1946 and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. He was recalled to active duty and served in the Korean War for two years then moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota and formed The Haddy Egg Company. In 1954 he and his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he and his partners began Suncrest Poultry Farms and later expanded the business to California. In 1973 Joe formed J.G. Haddy Sales Company/Coast Packaging Company in Mira Loma, California and remained President until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid supporter of the Pacific Egg and Poultry Association, served as President in 1969 and was elected as Man of the Year in 1982. A PEPA scholarship was established in his name. Joe was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Frances Haddy, his former wife, Irma Rae Haddy, his sisters, Elizabeth Haddy, Beatrice Abraham, Lucille Haddy and Vernita Haddy. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 34 year, Doris, his daughters, Sharon and Michelle Haddy, stepsons, Brad (Jill) Doskocil and Daryl Doskocil and grandchildren, James (Amanda) and Laura Doskocil. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Francis Haddy and sister, Juanita Landin. Burial will be at the Riverside National Cemetery on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 2882 Arlington Ave., Riverside, at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2014. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lutheran Social Services, 3772 Taft St., Riverside, 92503, Young Life, PO Box 547, Riverside, 92502 or March of Dimes.
