Joseph N. Dotterer, 69, of Riverside, CA, passed away after a long illness on December 20, 2022. Joe was born on February 6. 1953 in Florida. As a child with a father in the U.S. Air Force, he moved around a lot during his childhood until he finally settled in Southern California in 1968. He graduated from Loara High School in 1971, and lived in Riverside, CA for most of his married life. Joe met his wife in 1970 and they were married for 49 years at the time of his passing. Joe worked in lumber sales for 40 years in Southern California. Joe was a proud member of Oranco Bowmen, CBH, NFAA, and Broken Arrow Bowhunters. He was the current president of Oranco Bowmen and served as a past president of CBH and past Reg-59 president. He was also a past State Champion and National Champion Archer. He was a Johnny Appleseed of sorts at Oranco. He planted at least 1100 Poplar trees at the range in hopes they would grow big and give shade to the shooters. He would take a sprig home and plant in gallon milk containers with sand and in 6 weeks when the root started, he would take them to the archery range and planted them. He spent much of his free time shooting his bow, maintaining the range at Oranco, bow hunting, and enjoying his grandchildren. Everyone who knew Joe knew just how much he loved the sport of archery, bow hunting, his friends and family. He also loved Chinese food and claimed he knew the best Chinese Restaurant ever! His smile was unmatched, and he never took a bad picture. Joe was preceded by his mother, Mary Evelyn Westner, his father, Richard Dotterer, his brother, James Dotterer, and his stepfather, Guy Westner. Joe is survived by his wife, Roxanne, his son, Brian Dotterer, his daughter, Michelle Saenz (Michael Saenz), his beloved grandchildren, Dalton, Cole and Camrynn Saenz, his brother Travis Dotterer (Patty Dotterer), his sister-in-law, Marsha Dotterer, his half-sister Kathy Dotterer, his stepmom Roberta Dotterer and many nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends. We will miss Joe more than words can say. Funeral services will be private at this time. A Celebration of Life Memorial will take place at Oranco Bowmen at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to CBH/SAA Legislative Defense Fund in memory of Joe Dotterer.
