Larry was born in Denver, Missouri on September 12, 1942 and he passed into eternal life on June 17, 2016 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Renee, daughter Candice, son Terry, nephew Robert, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Linda Shepherd, his brother Lonnie Kimberling, his Aunt Imogene Donjon and many nieces and nephews. Larry grew up in Kansas and Missouri. He joined the Navy in 1961, completing four years of naval service in 1965. During his final year in the Navy, he married Renee and they started a home and family in Long Beach, California. Larry joined Douglas Aircraft Company where he served as an electrical assembler, mechanic, and then industrial engineer. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Cal State Fullerton in 1978. Shortly after his graduation, he began a long career in sales and sales management. He sold industrial products for several different companies and since Larry could sell anything to anybody, he quickly and successfully built his sales territories with each company. Larry took on sales management duties with many of his employers, ultimately rising to the Western US Sales Manager. A switch in focus to avoid traveling led him to use his expertise in industrial engineering to prepare manufacturing companies for ISO Standards Audits during his last years of work. He retired after 40 years of civilian employment in 2005. As a life-long automobile racing fan, Larry enjoyed attending races, including the Indy 500, with many of his family members. He had a passion for all things automotive and passed on this passion to his son. He loved watching all sports including the Raiders, the Angels and especially watching his granddaughter play water polo and grandsons play soccer and baseball. Larry loved the sea and was always ready take Renee on their next cruise. Together, they cruised over a dozen times to places like Alaska, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and Europe. Larry especially loved formal night and spending time at every art museum he could get to on shore days. A lover of people, babies, children, and a good story, Larry was always very social. He expressed his joy of life to all who knew him. You could always count on him for a good joke. As a strong Christian, Larry could be counted on to help anyone in need, and those who knew him well saw through his tough exterior. Larry will be missed by all who knew him and now has earned his rest in the loving arms of Jesus. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to Homes for our troops, Mass.
