Laurel June Walker went home to Jesus on September 8, 2022, at age 87. June was born to Olan and Edith Wiswell on August 8, 1935, in Corona, California, where she attended elementary through high school. June married her husband of 53 years, Norman J. Walker, on April 25, 1953. They built a life together and raised two daughters, Cynthia Gibbs and Renee Howe. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and as a "Farm Wife", she ran a one-acre family farm which included a large vegetable garden, a dozen or so fruit trees, horses, cows, goats, chickens, geese, pigs, cats, and dogs. June was a Christian woman and a faithful church member. She was actively involved with her local Church of God (Cleveland, TN). She enjoyed volunteering as a Missionettes leader with her local Assemblies of God church, and served as a Girl Scout leader in the community. Throughout her life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which was reflected in her day-to-day activities. June enjoyed working in her garden, camping with her family, yard-saling, reading, Crossword Puzzles, Word Searches, and Farmville. She created tokens of her love and appreciation for others in the form of sewed, crocheted, baked, and other hand-crafted gifts. June was the family historian and leaves behind volumes of her research. Passing from this life into the next, June joins her husband, Norman Walker; daughter, Renee Howe; grandson, Michael Metro; brother, Ronald Wiswell; and her parents, Olan and Edith Wiswell. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Gibbs and her family; her grandson, Stephen Metro and his family; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Mary Wiswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
