Leonidas B. Cortes passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on May 22nd, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. Born February 21,1942 in the town of Carcar, Cebu Philippines to Hilario and Emiliana Cortes, he was the 7th of 9 children. Leonidas earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Southwestern University and practiced orthopedic surgery as the Head of the Orthopedic Department in Southern Islands Hospital in Cebu City. There he met his bride of 50 years who was a nurse at the same hospital. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1983. Leonidas was a faithful servant of his Saviour, Jesus, and always at ready to share the Gospel of Christ when given the opportunity. He loved his family and enjoyed many activities from cooking, to golf, to travelling with his wife. He found happiness building and creating with his hands. Leonidas was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, friend, counselor, guide, and example to many. His presence here in this world will be missed but his memory will last. He is survived by his wife, Elvira; his son, Adrian; and his granddaughters, Emma and Lauren.
