Leroy Oscar Olson

May 21, 1936 — December 2, 2022

LeRoy Oscar Olson, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 2, 2022. Born in Little Falls, Minnesota on May 21, 1936, to Oscar and Lillie Olson. Raised on a working farm, LeRoy lead a simple life playing outside with his brother, sister, and many cousins. He attended elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse and later attended high school in town. LeRoy really enjoyed building things and woodworking, making tables, dressers, curio cabinets. This woodworking continued well into his seventies. After high school graduation, he joined the US Navy in 1954. He was deployed out of Long Beach, California for the Pacific Fleet aboard the USS Shelton DD790. He enjoyed the adventures and experiences while in the Navy and met the love of his life, Carole. The two of them wrote many love letters to each other while he was away at sea. When he was honorably discharged in 1958, LeRoy and Carole married on July 12, 1958. Making their first home in Long Beach, they welcomed their first daughter in 1960. LeRoy worked at the oil refinery in Carson for 10 years. In those 10 years, they moved their small family to Lakewood, California in 1963 and welcomed two more children. After working at the refinery, he was hired with Moothhart Chrysler Dealership in Lakewood and flourished as a brakes man. He stayed with the dealership through their relocation to the Cerritos Auto Square until his retirement in 1995. LeRoy and Carole moved to Corona in 1994. LeRoy even built two of those neighborhood libraries, "Take a book leave a book." LeRoy is survived by his daughters, Sheri Olson-Charlier (Richard) of Spring Hill, Florida and Donna Olson of Corona, California; his grandchildren, Stacy Charlier-Reed (Eric) of Riverside, California, Adam Loveless (Katherine) of Perris, California, and Julie Charlier-Berens (Christoper) of Brooksville, Florida. His four great-grandchildren are Eben and Lucy Loveless and Allison Key and Riley Berens. LeRoy is also survived by his sister, Carol Moulton of Long Prairie, Minnesota and many nephews and nieces. LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Carole Olson and their son David Edward Olson, his parents Oscar and Lillie Olson, and his brother Carl Olson.
