Leroy R. Nelson

Leroy was born February 4, 1937 in Wayne, Michigan. His family moved to California and Leroy attended kindergarten in the town of Avalon on Catalina Island. The family then moved to Newport Beach, California. His father was a commercial fisherman and worked in the shipyards building boats. He attended Newport Harbor High School where he met his wife to be, Joanne. They were married in 1957. He enlisted in the Air Force Reserves for five years and attended chiropratic college simultaneously until he graduated in 1962. After graduating college Leroy Joanne moved to Red Bluff, California. They raised there four children there and then moved back to southern California to the city of San Clemente. In 1978 Leroy started his chiropractic practice in Corona, California where practiced until 1989. In retirement Leroy and Joanne enj oyed traveling, motorhoming, hunting fishing (and hopefully catching). He enjoyed fishing from Barra Day Navidad, Mexico to the cool waters of Alaska. Other hobbies include collecting classic cars such as early 1940s Packards and 1950s classic cars. His true passion was a love for boats. He had two commercial fishing boats that fished between San Francisco, California and Newport, Oregon. He also enjoyed two sail boats, four small sport fishing boats and two Bayliners. Their favorite name for two of there boats was “Sunseeker”. Retirement for Leroy Joanne was obviously fun, fun, fun! Leroy Joanne are members of Hope Lutheran Church in Palm Desert, California. Leroy lived a fast paced and exciting life that never left a dull moment for himself or for the family that admired and loved him each and everyday of his wonderful life. May God Bless Him.
