Lois G. Thornton Lois G. (Schaffner, Sievers) Thornton, loving wife and mother, went to sleep in Jesus on March 24, 2016. She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Irving M. Thornton Jr.; a son, Kenneth Sievers and his wife Shannon Quishenberry-Sievers, and daughter, Deana and her husband Orly Nelson; five grandchildren, Ryan Sievers and his wife Alexandra, Kirsten and Zachary Nelson, Bailey Quishenberry and Emma Sievers; one great-grandson Hunter Sievers. She also leaves behind her stepchildren: Richard Thornton, Linda Mullen, David Thornton and Donna Mendenhall, their spouses, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children, her sister-in-law Clariece Schaffner, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Born in South Africa to missionary parents, Lois trained as a nurse at La Sierra College, Portland Sanitarium and Hospital and graduated from Walla Walla College. She worked as a nurse and a nurse educator for 40+ years and was involved with the Braille Institute as a student and teacher throughout her retirement. She was an active member of the La Sierra University Church and took great pride in her work with The Dorcas Society. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8th at 11 a.m. in the La Sierra University Churchs Sierra Vista Chapel. In lieu of flowers Lois requested donations to La Sierra University Student Missions. Cemetery Riverside National Cemetery Staging Area #4 Thursday 1/1
