Luis Diego Castro Gutierrez

August 12, 1945 — September 23, 2020

Luis Diego Castro was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on August 12, 1945 to Eduardo Castro and Rosita Gutierrez along with two brothers, Bernal and Manuel Eduardo, and two sisters, Adelita and Olga. Luis moved to California in 1970. Five years later, Lilliana joined him in California, and they wed on Valentine's Day in 1975. Luis and Lilliana had three daughters, Vivian, Brenda Isabel, and Andrea Maria, two grandchildren, Paloma Mireya and Noa James, two sons-in-law, Simon "Ziggy" Castro-Wooldridge and Robert Ritchie, and many nieces and nephews in Costa Rica. Professionally, Luis had an entrepreneurial spirit, was extremely resourceful and hard-working, and was instrumental in the success of two family businesses in Corona, Lilliana Castro DDS and Inland Empire Adult Day Health Care Center, in addition to being a hands-on father. He was part of the Rotary Family and particularly active on international projects. Luis was full of compassion, love, and selflessness. He had a childish spirit, which was full of humor, and tall tales, an old soul who loved nature, genealogy and all things historic, and was always so proud of his family. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. Up until his final days, he made us all laugh. Luis passed away peacefully at his home in Corona, surrounded by immediate family and friends, as extended family in Costa Rica prayed the rosary. His spirit will always live on through those who knew him, loved him, and laughed at his jokes. Luis will be memorialized through a private ceremony with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Circle City Rotary Club Foundation (please, under "Program", specify that you would like your donation to be used for palliative services in Grecia, Costa Rica): https://mkjmarketing.makemydonation.org/donate/912147788.
