Lynn Allan Emmons

April 16, 1946 – June 13, 2026

Lynn was born on April 16, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Paul and Mary Emmons. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

A proud American, Lynn served honorably in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam. He carried with him a deep sense of duty, honor, and gratitude throughout his life. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Barnes, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades and serve as the foundation of a beautiful family.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Emmons. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl; his brother, Don (Sandy); his children, Scott, Christie, and Brian (Linda); and his three beloved grandsons, Andrew, Lawson, and Zachary, who brought immeasurable joy and purpose to his life.

To know Lynn was to know kindness, faith, and generosity. He was a light to everyone who crossed his path. He lived his faith out loud, not only through his words but through his actions, touching countless lives with his compassion, encouragement, and unwavering belief in others.

Of all the roles he held in life, being a grandfather was among his greatest treasures. He adored his three grandsons and was present for every game, event, milestone, and celebration. His love and dedication were so evident that everyone affectionately referred to him as “Papa.” His presence was a constant source of comfort, support, and joy to those who knew him.

In his backyard, Lynn created “Lynneland,” a special place dedicated to adventure, imagination, and fun for his grandsons. It became a treasured gathering place where countless memories were made, reflecting his playful spirit and deep love for the boys.

Lynn approached life with gratitude and humility. He often said that he felt rich; not because of material possessions, but because he was surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved and found happiness in the simple blessings of everyday life.

Lynn leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and devotion to family. His gentle spirit, steadfast character, and loving heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
