Born in Ohio, on November 6, 1945, Marcia Locklear Harris grew up in Los Angeles with her mother Dorothy Coleman Miles. She attended Washington High School and later earned her sociology degree from Cal State Los Angeles and her masters in education from USC. It was during her college years, that she met and later married Dr. Richard Harris although he wasnt a doctor just yet; during these years she worked hard to help put him through higher education. When she wasnt a stay-at-home mom with her two sons Byron and Brandon, she spent 19 years teaching at the elementary school level in the Los Angeles, Bloomington and Compton school districts. She retired to the Canyon Lake gated community where, during her earlier years there, she would host family gatherings on holidays like the 4th of July. For a time, she also made the drive to Corona to babysit her granddaughter Makenna. Over the years as her sons grew and attended college Marcia enjoyed family gatherings at her mothers (“Grams”) condo in LA, at the restaurants near her apartment in Lakewood, going to the movies, and putting her excellent dance moves on display when an opportunity presented itself. She is survived by Brandon, Byron, and Byrons two children Makenna and Brody Harris.
