Margaret M. Ray passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at her home in Corona, CA. Margaret was born in upstate New York in 1923, the fifth of six children born to James and Elizabeth Harvey. As a child, her family moved frequently. She spent her middle school years at a Catholic boarding school. Later in her adult life she tended to rebel against tight regulation. After graduating from St. Anthonys Catholic High School in Sterling, CO, Margaret moved with a friend to Denver, CO. At the boarding house where she lived, Margaret met her future husband, Orie Ray. Ray, as he was known, joined the Marine Corp, eventually becoming head of maintenance of an aircraft wing. Ray and Margaret married in Denver but, like most military families, they lived in several different states. Along the way they had six children. Rays last assignment was at El Toro Marine Base. They remained in California for the rest of their lives, eventually retiring to Redding, CA. After more than twenty years in Redding, Margaret and Ray moved to Corona, CA, to be near their children. Margaret loved gardening, reading, watching football and going barefoot. Everyone loved her homemade pies. She enjoyed traveling and in her later years she went on many cruises. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos for a few hands of Blackjack. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Orie A. Ray, and two of her children, Bill and Robert. She is survived by two daughters, Laurie and Christine, two sons, Ed and Paul, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
