Maria Milagrosa Skelly

Mila Skelly, 81 passed away in Riverside, California on December 28, 2024 following a long illness. Mila was born on August 22, 1943 in Cadiz, Spain, the third of five children to Ricardo Chain and Rafaela Marquez. 

Mila and her family lived in Sevilla, Spain where she worked for Iberia Airlines. She met and married Bill Skelly as he served in the United States Air Force in Spain. Although they did not have children of their own, their nieces and nephews were a big part of their lives. 

She and Bill later moved to the United States, in Corona, California in 1969 to be closer to her sister Pili and her family. Mila worked for the Corona Norco School district for twenty years and was a language instructor and tutor as well.

Mila enjoyed traveling to Spain every year and was very interested in learning different languages. She was a fantastic cook and loved to share her recipes with family and friends. She was a member of St. Matthew Church in Corona, California since its inception.

Mila is survived by her fifteen nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, and godchildren.
