Maria V. Melena

Maria V. Melena Mara, who loved being called "Melena," departed her loving family on January 2, 2021 at 5:50 pm. This beautiful angel was born on September 19, 1926 in Riverside, California. Although she was born legally blind and handicap, this did not stop her from enjoying life. Some of her hobbies included designing clothes and inventing recipes. Melena was incredibly pleased with herself when she figured out how to cut out a five-pointed star-without the help of the Internet or anyone else. She also learned all of the bus routes in Riverside. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Melena. She especially loved sewing, experimenting, and most of all singing. In 1965, Maria Melena surrendered her life to Jesus. Melena loved the Lord and had a heart for the less fortunate. Melena honored the Lord in every aspect of her life. She dedicated her life to prayer, scripture, and loving others. Melena is survived by her son, Luis; her niece, Juana; her granddaughters Alma, Sandra, and Elizabeth; and her greatgrandchildren Andrew, Alexandria, JJ, Giuliana, Adaline, Scarlett, and Avery. We would love for her closest friends and family to come and celebrate the life of this amazing woman who ran the race of faith on wheels. Her memorial service will be held on January 27, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Thomas Miller Mortuary. 40 people will be allowed inside at a time. Her burial will be held at 10 am on January 28, 2021 at Piece Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park.
