Obituary for Marion Rossilli Mario Rossilli a long time resident of Lakewood, CA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday January 3rd, 2018 at home in Corona, CA. Born on June 14, 1926 in Mulberry, Kansas to Italian immigrant parents, Benedetto and Italia (Vona) Rossilli. He actively served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, serving in WWII and the Korean War and was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel where he was stationed for 3 years during his remarkable military career. While serving this great nation that he loved dearly, he met his wife in Washington D.C. in 1962 and started a family. While still serving in the Navy Reserve, he worked for Colonial Penn Insurance and was transferred to the west coast to head up the insurance provider benefits for the membership division of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). He retired from Colonial Penn in 1981 and then accepted a position with AARP where he worked until he retired. Mario took great pride in taking care of and supporting his family. He was a great cheerleader for all of his kids sporting events in their younger years. He most enjoyed playing and watching golf, playing poker and his trips to the casino. He also enjoyed a good debate about politics. His quick wit and dry sense of humor always led to a lot of laughter when he was around. He spent many hours in retirement on the golf course either playing or working as a volunteer Marshall. When he wasnt golfing, you could find him in the club house playing poker with his friends. In recent years after moving to Corona, CA, he had always enjoyed Big Band music, he would often sing his favorite song “Stardust” at the Senior Community where he lived. Marios greatest joy was his family and if you were a friend of the family, you were part of his family. Mario leaves behind his loving wife Carole Rein-Rossilli of Corona, CA; two daughters, one son, one son-in-law and one grandchild. Daughter Vona Rossilli of San Diego, CA. Son Joseph Rossilli of Orange, CA. Daughter Benita Rossilli-Dahlke and son-in-law Terry Dahlke and granddaughter Shawntel Dahlke- Sielaff of Corona, CA Mario also leaves behind two nieces, two nephews, three great-nephews, and one great-niece who reside in Kansas and Indiana along with many cousins in Italy. He was so happy to have connected with his Italian relatives shortly after 9/11 and was elated when a few of them came to visit him in the last few years. Being that Italian was his first language, he was able to communicate with many of his cousins on Facebook and just loved corresponding with them on a regular basis. He will live forever in our hearts. Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518 on Monday January 22nd at 11:00AM Staging Area #1.
