Marissa Ganaden Alora was born in San Fernando, La Union on July 18, 1955. She was ushered into the presence of the Lord on July 1, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved husband and children and devoted sisters, cousin, and childhood friends in prayer and while they sang her favorite worship songs. Marissa was the youngest of 6 children who are, from oldest to youngest: Rudolph Ganaden, Sofronio Ganaden Jr.(a.k.a. Leo), Vivian Ganaden, Susan Ganaden Tinio, and Golda Ganaden Champagne. Marissa and her siblings grew up in Manila with their father Sofronio Ganaden, a lawyer, and their mother Elvira Ganaden, a social worker. She was known as the most intelligent of her siblings and the most eloquent as proven by her B.A. in English Literature and her two Masters degrees namely: Masters in Psychology from Centro Escolar University and Masters in Christian Leadership in Asian Theological Seminary. She became an instructor in Advanced Child Psychology in Centro Escolar University for 5 years. She met the love of her life, Rodolfo Alora, while working at Banco Filipino in 1977. They started dating and it culminated 5 years later at a wedding on December 23, 1982 in the Philippines. She and her family moved to the United States in 1999 where she taught preschool children for many years then went on to work for Orange County Social Services. Marissa was truly gifted in teaching and leadership. She used her gifts and godly wisdom in serving the Lord for many years. She served in the Sunday School Ministry as a teacher in the Philippines and became a Sunday School Superintendent in Cornerstone Christian Fellowship of Orange County. She was a well-respected and adored instructor and mentor and by Gods grace, had a powerful ministry. Marissa is survived by her husband and her children Jianina Grace Alora, Rommel Mark Alora, and Merijoyce Alora Calinaya married to Hans Christian Calinaya.
