April 21, 1921 — December 18, 2020

Mary Evelyn (Kinamon) Benson was born April 21, 1921 in Chickamauga, Georgia to Sally Mae (Weaver) Kinamon and John Thomas Kinamon. She passed away December 18th, 2020 in Corona, California. As a teenager Evelyn moved with her mother to Houston, Texas and then to Dallas, Texas. It was in Dallas, Texas that she met Leonard LaVerne Benson. They married May 23, 1947 and had two daughters, Judy Lee born in Dallas in 1948 and Jana Rea born in Center, Texas in 1949. In the early 1950s Len and Evelyn moved to California and never left. They lived for many years in Cypress where they raised their daughters and in 1977 they built a home in Corona and lived until their passing. Len was the original real estate broker of Canyon Country Realty and Evelyn worked for many years for Bank of America, retiring from the Bellflower branch in 1980 as the Operations Manager. Evelyn and Len enjoyed years of traveling in their motorhome visiting friends and family around the United States until Len passed in 1988. Evelyn took up quilting several years later and enjoyed making quilts and wall hangings for her family and friends. She enjoyed her time with the “quilting ladies” and many became very good friends in her later years. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Laverne (1988) and daughter Judy Lee (Benson) Fletcher (2009) . Evelyn is survived by her daughter Jana Benson Walchle of Corona, grandchildren: Dixie (Fletcher) Sardone of Corona; Devon Fletcher (& Missy) of Meridian, Idaho; Donovan Fletcher of Lake Elsinore; John Walchle (& Nicole) of Boise, Idaho; Todd Walchle (& Junko Kurano) of Portland Oregon; Melany Walchle Denkers (& Kevin) of Boise, Idaho.
