Mateus Trovao

Mateus Martins Trovao was born on January 14, 1945 in the Azores, Portugal on the island of Terceira. He was the 11th of 12 children and had 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He lost his father at the tender age of seven and shortly thereafter left Portugal to begin a new life in Brazil. It was there that he grew into a young man who not only fell in love with the country but also with a beautiful Brazilian woman who would soon become his wife of 49 years. Mateus and Zeni had two daughters, Maria and Ana, before immigrating to the United States where they had two more daughters, Rosemary and Denise. He worked diligently for many years as a dairyman to provide for his family. His children rewarded him with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mateus loved dancing and taking long walks with his wife, watching professional soccer, and playing dominoes. Mateus lived a life of love, laughter, and happiness, with his friends and family. It was in this way at the age of 71 that he parted this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by all those he loved and who loved him.
