Matthew Paul Hodges entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 29, 2017. He was son to Kenneth and Valerie Hodges and brother to Josh Hodges, nephew to Roger Ganther, Jim and Barb Lester and grandson to Betty Ganther. Matthew was born on October 24, 1986 in Overland Park, Kansas. He grew up in Kansas and graduated high school from Shawnee Mission West and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management from Baker University. Matthew was well known for his gentle demeanor, sense of humor and quick smile; but above all else, his love for the game of soccer. He spent his youth playing soccer and developed an immense passion for the game. As a player he served as team captain of his high school, club, and college teams. As an adult, Matt carried forward this passion leading the Ayala Varsity soccer program as Head Coach and coaching for Legends FC. In these leadership roles Matt earned a reputation for not only developing his players athletically but for building the skills needed for success in life - perseverance, hard work, and respect for others. The soccer community is deeply saddened by the loss of such an influential coach, leader and friend. His presence will be missed on the field - but his memory will remain vivid, and his passion for the game and his fellow players will be forever etched on the hearts of those he coached, mentored and loved. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. @ Crossroads Church in the Plex. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 starting at 11:00 a.m. @ Crossroads Church in the main sanctuary. Crossroads Church address is 2331 Kellog Avenue, Corona, CA 92881.
