Monica Louise Vasquez

March 24, 1965 — May 30, 2022

Our mother, Monica Louise Vasquez, was born on March 24th 1965 in Riverside Ca, to Ruben and Jenny Vasquez, She was welcomed home by her two older siblings Chris and Cindy and later became a big sister to Kenny. She attended Jefferson and Coronita elementary schools, Raney Jr High and Corona High School. She had a few different jobs in her life ranginging from fast food, retail, LaserTag and Pins n Pockets, but her greatest achievement was becoming a mom and grandma. In 1985 she married our father Refugio, “cookie”to those who knew him. They welcomed three girls into the world, Monica Charlene, Cheryl Marie and Sharon Victoria. They valued their family time and spent summers on camping trips, boating on the lake,Family fun night fridays, which usually consisted of enjoying pizza and games with family and friends at either Shakeys or Pizza Palace and sunday funday with our grandparents which consisted of church the lunch at Toms Farm. Along with her role of being a mommy and homemaker, she took on a few other jobs as being a babysitter and a member of the PTA in which she was fully involved at our school. She loved volunteering and chaperoning field trips, Which worked out great for us because not only did we have our mama with us but we were also able to get the best souvenirs. Although her and dad parted ways, she always found a way to still make life fun,From beach trips,a saturday at the swapmeet or just having our own living room dance party.(which she still did till this day). Even though times got hard she still found ways to put food on the table and a smiles on our faces. She was a kind soul and had a heart of gold.Never judged anyone and accepted everyone as a friend. Always willing to help out to caring for sick family members, giving rides to even giving her last five bucks to help a friend in need. But also was definitely the ultimate mama bear and protective gramma who would do absolutely anything to keep her family safe no matter what. Mama absolutely loved to dance, from line dancing to Boot Scootin Boogie, the electric slide, getting down so the old school jams and oldies, and to twirling around with a partner to some good ol Ramon Ayala.Music was in her soul and she would always dance to any beat. She later ran into an old family friend Richard, where they sparked a love and shared a relationship. They enjoyed going on weekend getaways with family and friends and of course date nights at the casino. Our mom definitely loved her gaming, whether it be playing pool on her tablet, scratcher cards or a good ol slot machine. She had a very creative mind. She loved baking, crocheting, scrapbooking and all things crafty. Holidays were always celebrated with her famous rice krispie treats, from orange pumpkins to green christmas trees. Not only did she crochet blankets but was always finding ways of using her imagination and making even the smallest barbie outfits and bedding. Her recently discovered talent was making pinatas for her kids and grandbabies birthday parties. Whatever we envisioned , she made it happen! She shared her love of all things crafty with her seven grandbabies:Ceasar, Isabella, Sophie,Natalie, Easton, Hudson and Rocklyn. Her grandbabies were her whole world. Becoming a gramma was her absolute greatest accomplishment and she wore that title with pride. She called them all her sunshines because the minute she would see them she said they would light up her world and make everything all better. Although she will be greatly missed, we will forever keep her legacy alive whether it be remembering her contagious laugh, dancing the night away or listening to good ol oldies on a sunday afternoon.WE hope she has touched your lives just as she did with ours. Again, we thank all of you for being here today to help us celebrate the life of our mom.
