Otto Janca, Jr., 77 of Ontario, California, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, surrounded by his family. Otto was born on March 10, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Otto Sr. and Alice Janca. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy, his brother Larry (Martha), his children Melanie and Keith (Kirsten) and grandchildren Kaleb, Noah, Nelson, and Iselin. Otto served in the US Army and having been wounded in Viet Nam he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was a strong, kind, and loving person who brought joy and laughter to those who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa and will be truly missed. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, cruising, and taking road trips with his family and friends. Otto earned the rank of Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 54 of Corona, California. He was a President of the regional Good Sam Club and a President of the California Lightning Sprint Association, winning the California championship with a race car and engine that he built. Otto had a fulfilling career and was proud of being a sheet metal, heating, and air conditioning journeyman for more than 36 years. He completed and supervised installation in hospitals, hotels, and restaurants from Palm Springs to Los Angeles. He also won a state competition and represented California in the nationals. Otto was a member of Corona First Baptist Church where his family has attended since 1954. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or Smile Train (smiletrain.org) on Otto’s behalf.
