In Loving Memory of Patricia Ann "Patty" Huff
Patricia Huff, affectionately known as Patty and Aunty Patty, passed away peacefully on December 2nd beside her devoted husband Dewaine and nephew Roger. A devoted wife, mother, sister, cherished aunt, and a steadfast presence in the lives of her family and friends, Patty was known for her lively, entertaining personality, sharp wit, and love of life. Born on August 2, 1941, Patty grew up on a small farm in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada, sharing her formative years with her brother Ronald and sister Beverly. From Ontario, Canada to Corpus Christie, Texas, she continued to travel with her family looking for a better life and eventually settled in Hawthorne, California. Here she completed her education and became a dental assistant and office manager.
At age 20, Patty met the love of her life, Dewaine Huff, at the first A&W fast food restaurant in Southern California, which was owned by her parents. Married 7 years later, they shared a love for life and a zest for travel, adventure, water and snow skiing, square dancing, and roaming by RV. She and Dewaine—Patty’s rock and partner—were married 57 wonderful years. They weathered the vicissitudes of life together which cemented their partnership and bonds. Together, they built a life full of memories, moments of joy, and mutual devotion. They became parents to a beautiful baby girl, Leanne Tricia Huff. Their devotion to one another deepened through the devastating loss of their daughter at age eight. This loss impacted the course of their expected lives together, yet they continued to care deeply for one another and were the best example of a committed union and strong, soft love. Through it all, they also found room to open their hearts and their home to nieces, nephews, and an exchange student to share in what they built together.
Patty is survived by her beloved husband Dewaine Huff; her brother Ronald Hendrick; her treasured nephew and nieces Roger Huff, Charlotte Huff, Crystal Draper, Claire Warshaw, Debbie Lipson, Kathryn Hicklin, and Ruth Weintraub; her great nieces and nephew Tianna Hicklin, Kristin Taravella, Karen Ribar, Kylee Klugman, Herschel, Jen, and Maya Weintraub, Chelsea Sitarz, and Miranda Draper; her great, great nephew and nieces Sierra Lopez, Cassidy and Brooklyn Huff, and Ethan and Isabel Ribar; and her great, great, great niece Haven Lopez—a wide circle of family and friends who will forever remember her loving presence. Though her earthly journey has ended, Patty’s love and memories will remain in our hearts forever. She’s now with her parents, sister, and daughter in a more peaceful place. Rest in peace, dear Patty. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of Patricia Huff’s life and graveside service for friends and family will be held at Good Shepherd Cemetery (8301 Talbert Avenue, Huntington Beach, California 92647) on December 12, 2024 at 11:45am.
