Paul “Bus” Schreffler
On Wednesday, May 27, 2025, Paul “Bus” Schreffler, 91, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a spirit that was uniquely his own.
Born in Ohio, Bus proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he built a career in construction, where he was known for his work ethic and the pride he took in what he built.
Bus was married to his beloved wife, June, until her passing in 2007. Together they shared many years and raised a family, building a life that was both meaningful and enduring.
He is survived by his sons, Paul and Pat; his daughter-in-law, Suzie; his grandsons, Steven and Mathew, and Mathew’s wife, Amanda; and, in August 2025, he experienced the joy of becoming a great-grandfather. He is also survived by his nieces, Ada and Vallie (Richard); Ada’s daughter, Elizabeth; Vallie and Richard’s daughter, Nicole; along with many friends and family members in California and Ohio.
It has been said that any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad—and Bus was truly that.
For those who knew Bus, he will be fondly remembered for his unmistakable presence—you could often find him with a cigar in his mouth and a shirt pocket filled with cigars. It was part of what made him uniquely Bus.
