Peter Daniel Corn

Peter Corn was born in Houston, Texas on October 13, 1950 to Sherman and Lorene Corn. His service in the Unites States Coast Guard made him a square-knot sailor, and eventually brought him to California. He met and married Yolanda Echavarria and had two children Benjamin and Jennifer. Wanting to raise their children in a small town, Pete and Yolanda moved their family to Norco, CA in 1984. Pete coached Little League Baseball and Junior All-American Football in Norco for decades - building a legacy of young men who still credit Coach Corn as a transformational force in their lives. In 1996, Pete met his current wife, Heather Brouwer. In 1998 the two moved to Hollister, CA where Pete continued his career as a public servant as the Assistant Director of Public Works for San Benito County. After 11 years, retirement and the desire to be closer to family and care for Heather's grandmother brought the two back to the Corona-Norco area in 2009. Pete was blessed with 13 years of retirement during which he spoiled the people he loved, ran the household while Heather built her career, played a lot of poker, and fell in love with his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren all over again. In early June, when faced with a fast-moving terminal illness, Pete set out to have a party every single day, until he couldn't. He succeeded. Pete spent every one of the 25 days between his diagnosis and his passing surrounded by friends, family, love, and laughter. He passed peacefully, at home, in the arms of his daughter and his wife the morning of July 1, 2022. Peter Corn is survived by his wife, Heather Corn, his two children Benjamin Corn and Jennifer Corn-Burke, his loving daughter-in-law, Monica Corn, his supportive son-in-law, Gary Burke, and his six grandchildren Kasey and Kamryn Corn, and Gabriel, Aaron, Nathanael, and Eli Burke. Peter's services will be held at The American Legion Post #328 in Norco, CA 3888 Old Hamner Rd., Norco, CA 92860 beginning with military honors promptly at 2pm, Sunday, July 10, 2022.
