Randolph “Randy” Dickens Jr.

October 18, 1968 — February 1, 2022

Randolph Dickens, Jr. was born to Randolph and Janette Dickens on October 18, 1968. He was the only son from this union. Randolph aka Randy attended Western Avenue Elementary School, Mount Vernon Junior High, Gardena High School and graduated from Crenshaw High School. Randy loved sports. He grew up playing with his cousins and sister playing baseball and basketball at Harvard Park. He loved to pitch. Randy was an explorer and very sure of himself. Randy was known as a dresser, he loved clothes which he and his cousins and childhood friend Maurice would share. Truth be told they shared a lot more from those clothes. After high school, Randolph followed his sister into the Armed Services. Randy enlisted in the US Army and served as an Army Infantryman. His first tour of duty was in Germany for 3 years alongside his sister. They ran infantry obstacles courses together and participated in joint field exercises in remote areas in Europe. During his service in Europe Randolph was deployed to IRAQ (The Persian Gulf War formally called the Operation Desert Shield) and during his service received a host of medals. Specialist Dickens was awarded the Army Service Ribbon/Overseas Service Ribbon/Expert Badge with M16 Rifle Bar//Sharp Shooter Badge Mortar//Army Good Conduct Medal//Army Achievement Medal 2d Oak Leaf Cluster//Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2Bronze Stars//National Defense Service Medal//Army Lapel Button//Saudia Arabian Version of the Kuwait Liberation Medal//and National Guard Service Ribbon for his meritorious service. After Europe Randy transitioned to Ft. Hood, Texas to continue his service. Randy decided to return home as a reservist and was later returned to active duty during the riots in Los Angeles in 1992. After his return Randy and Tessa Fison bore a beautiful daughter who they named Teriah Marie Dickens. Randy was always adventurous and determined to follow in his sister's footsteps; as he believed that he was his sister's keeper. Randy moved to Virginia to assist with the building of a company called DigiFlight. Randy was the second employee of DigiFlight and performed human resources and administration functions that were required to operate a start-up. Randy was very instrumental in building the corporate infrastructure of the organization to include having a positive impact with assisting with the cradle to grave execution of business operations. This also included business development and proposal management. Randy made Alexandria, VA his home and wanted to father his daughter in Alexandria. Teriah's arrival was a joyous one; as he and Teriah would start their new adventure and Teriah would be afforded the fun of spending time with her traveling partners. Teriah an intelligent and athletic young lady was adored by her dad and enjoyed their movie night with banana split ice-cream. Randy enjoyed also driving Teriah and her cousins Alex and Tori to their basketball training in which Teriah would come home with the best shooting trophies. After a tragic accident Randy decided to return home to assist with the care of his mother. Randolph took on odd jobs to make ends meet only to be stricken with a debilitating illness that would impact him gravely until his death. This illness was traced back to the inoculation from his deployment which caused serious nerve damage that happened gradually resulting in a full medical discharge with full benefits from the Army. During the most serious of times Randy resorted to conspiracy theory research in which he would attempt to identify the truth behind the challenges that plague this world and our human-kind.
