Ravi Shaun Mathur

Ravi Shaun Mathur, a 37 year resident of Corona, has passed away on June 4, 2020. Ravi was born in Windsor, Berkshire, England on September 9, 1952. He spent his childhood living all over India as was customary for families of the Indian Navy, his father, a captain of one of their ships, the INS Talwar. He came to the United States on August 29, 1966, a wide eyed teenage Indian boy thrust into the turbulent 60's in Southern California. He excelled in track and basketball in high school, and loved to body surf at Redondo Beach. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Marines, and he proudly served for 4 years. Shortly after he met Tami, and they were married in 1977. They raised their two children, Tara and Kevin in Corona. Ravi worked in the electronics field, utilizing his skills learned in the Marines. One project he had in the 80's was to help design electronic components for a space ship. Looking to improve his education, he put himself through college in his early 40's. He earned his Bachelors degree through the University of Phoenix, and his MBA at the University of Redlands. He loved his work and it gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world, which was a passion of his. He took pride in providing a good life for his family. Ravi is survived by his wife of 42 years, Tami, his daughter Tara (Daniel) Wilson, his son Kevin, his grandsons Charlie, Scotty, and Luke Wilson, his sister Tara Fox, brother Rahul Mathur, nieces Anjali Fox, Megan Steele, and nephew Darrin Fox. He is preceded in death by his parents Patricia Mathur, Peter Mathur, and brother Rajiv Mathur. He was a lover of good food, and good music. He was a master at making curry, and he believed that cooking good food for family and friends is an act of love. He loved his family, and he will be missed.
