Raymond “Kip” Anthony Rawls

On October 19, 2020 Mr. Raymond Kip Rawls was called home to rest after a long battle with illness. Kip as we know was born in New Orleans, LA on 11-26-1945 to Marie Pulliams Smith and Gilliam Williams Rawls. Kip was raised by Grandmother Rebecca Collins Williams. Kip Graduated from South Downs in Houma, LA. He joined the US Marine Corps where was a rifleman in the Vietnam War, security detail and Military Police until 1971. After leaving the Military he met the love on his life Cherry Jewell and married her on June 11, 1977. They had a blissful marriage for 44 years. Upon this union they have one daughter Loreal Rawls. Rochelle Potts, his first daughter from a previous marriage. He was preceded in death by his mother: Marie Pulliam Smith; his father: Gilliams Rawls, Grandmother: Rebecca Collins Williams; four sisters: Becky Chenier, Constance "Connie" Smith, and JoAnn Taylor, Rosalind Sweet; two brothers: George Anderson and Frankie Smith. Kip leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife: Cherry Rawls, two daughters: Loreal Rawls of Fontana, California and Rochelle Potts of Los Angles, California; two grandchildren: Patrick Cervantes and Brooklyn Rawls; a step-mother: Mae Rawls; one sister: Betty Smith of Port Arthur, TX; three brothers Lee Anderson (Etta) Cleveland, Ohio; Jackie Smith of Morgan City, LA; brothers: Zack Thomas (Renee) of Houston, TX ; Ron Rawls (Tiffany) of Houston, TX; seven brothers-in laws: Bernal Taylor of Lake Charles, LA; Cardis King of Houston, TX; William H. Jewell (Tina); Jerry Jewell (Brenda); Mike Shippley all of Louisville, Kentucky; Wilber Granderson of Evansville. IN and Gill Nunn of Virginia Beach, VA; two sister-in-laws Sharnell Smith of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Fellisha Nunn of Auburn, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews a host of family and Friends.
