Reginald Ritchie McLawrence Peters

Reginald Ritchie McLawrence Peters, a devoted husband, father, and healer, fell asleep in Christ on Monday, February 9, 2026. Born to John and Jean Peters, Reginald was an extraordinary mind who accomplished early what many never do, graduating from high school at only 14 years old. He went on to pursue his calling in medicine with unmatched drive. After earning his bachelor’s degree at La Sierra University, he continued his studies at Loma Linda University, before he dedicating himself wholeheartedly to helping others through medicine.

His career reflected his deep goodwill. Whether navigating the challenges of Calipatria State Prison as a hepatology specialist or serving patients in Urgent Care and Gastroenterology at Kaiser, Reginald was more than a provider. He was a hero to those he served. His patients loved him because he carried their burdens with kindness, never complaining about the weight of it all. He lived his work as a ministry, demonstrating that medicine is as much about the soul as it is about the body.

At the forefront of Reginald’s life was his unshakable walk with God. As a Seventh Day Adventist, his faith was the air he breathed and the direction he followed. On September 19, 1999, he married the love of his life, Siena Avery. She was his rock and greatest support, and together they raised a family grounded in the Word of God. He didn’t just tell his four sons about God; he showed them God through his actions. He was a man of faith who demonstrated that the legacy of the cross was the most important inheritance he could leave behind.

Reginald was the ultimate defender. In his youth, he was a force on the soccer field as an incredible defender who anticipated every move, and shielded his goal with everything he had. He carried that same defensive spirit into fatherhood. He was a man of consistency, showing up every day for workouts, even when his own battles became arduous and heavy. He shielded his family from pain, choosing instead to be the rock they leaned on until the very end.

He did not leave us; he simply finished his shift. He now rests in the hands of the Fair Judge, awaiting the morning of the “next one,” when all things are made new. Reginald is survived by his devoted wife and partner, Siena; his four sons, Reginald Jr., Ritchie, Rylan, and Reyce, who carry his strength in their DNA; his mother, Jean; and his siblings, Desmond, Petra, Lance, Anthea, and Salisha; along with six nieces, five nephews, one great-nephew, and one great-niece. He joins his father, John, in the quiet promise of resurrection.

May the strength he planted in us grow until we meet him again at the feet of the King. Amen.
