Richard Russell Burnett

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Russell Burnett, who left us on April 15th, 2025, at the age of 85. A beloved father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, Richard touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

Born on August 26, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, Richard was the son of Russell John Burnett and Viva Bernita Johnson. His early years in Los Angeles were filled with cars, friends, and working at Pep Boys. Richard served in the Navy from June 6, 1962, to March 27, 1968, and then he graduated from Cal State University with a degree in Sociology.

Richard used his Navy Corpsman experience to embark on a distinguished career in pharmaceutical sales, where he was known for his dedication, hard work, and sales excellence. Over the years, he held various leadership positions at Ciba Geigy, and Genentech, and Medfusion, contributing significantly to the growth and success of each organization. His focus towards the end of his career was the field of Diabetes in support of his wife, daughter, and grandson and their type 1 Diabetes.

In 1960, Richard married Marilyn Ann Dworak, who remained his devoted partner until her passing in 2004. Together, they had five children Charles (decd), Kimberley (decd), Kevin, Sharilyn, and Ryan (decd). They built a loving home for their family filled with lots of love and adventure.

Richard was happily married and together for 20 years with Barbara Moore. He was proud to become father to Shellie Dinnauer and grandfather to her boys Justin, Jarrett, and Jordan. Richard loved the life he and Barbara created and their many trips together.

He cherished spending time with his grandsons Ryan, Beau, Jarrett, Justin, and Jordan they all brought him great pride. Richard was invested in watching the next generation grow and his great granddaughters always brought a smile to his face. He simply loved his family.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held on May 3, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Thomas Miller Mortuary, Corona, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Diabetes Association, an organization close to Richard’s heart.

As we bid farewell to our Richard, Dad, Grandpa, we remember the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and uplift us. Rest in peace, Richard, and thank you for the beautiful memories you leave behind.
