Richard Garton died peacefully at home, Sunday, January 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born and raised in Corona, California and lived in this area for over 70 years. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mooney Garton; his daughter, Paula Wilcoxon; granddaughter Amber Wilcoxon; his brother, Douglas Garton; many nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Ellen Mooney Cryder and her children, Emily and Ben, Patrick (Lorraine) Mooney and their daughters Caroline and Catherine. Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Richard was a member of the Junior chamber of Commerce and the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He was a kind man who valued his friendships and his sense of humor will be missed. The family wishes to thank the Kaiser Oncology/Pulmonary Dept. and caregivers Norma Cadmus and Brianna Vargas. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona, with a reception immediately following.
