Richard A. Guillen “Rico” was born on June 21, 1941, in Santa Rosa Valley, California, to his loving parents, Jennie Rodriguez Guillen and Macario Guillen. He graduated from Corona High School in 1957 and pursued higher education before proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, he demonstrated the dedication and strength that would define his life.
On February 13, 1967, Richard married the love of his life, Guadalupe, beginning a beautiful journey together. Over 58 years of marriage, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. He worked tirelessly for 27 years as a machine operator at Sunkist Growers before retiring in 2000, always providing for his family with quiet strength and devotion.
Richard’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found happiness in the simple moments spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lupe, and their five children: Yolanda, Leticia, Victor, Richard Jr., and Sylvia. His proudest role was being a grandfather to 12 grandchildren—Bobby, Laura, Danny, Joseph, Angela, Michael, Joshua, Steven, Pepe, Dalia, Julia, and Angel—and a great-grandfather to six: Brianna, Isaac, Andy, Valerie, Noah, and Jacob.
Richard’s kindness, warmth, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the lives he touched.
