Rita June Reedy

Rita June Reedy Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt Born January 15, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois Died May 26, 2021 in Riverside, California Rita, age 90, was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She was the oldest of 4 children, the daughter of George Clark and Helen Janicki Clark. She met her husband, Jack Reedy, on the beach of Lake Michigan in Chicago. They were married May 25, 1950. Jack and Rita moved to Dayton, Ohio, Jack's hometown. A few weeks after their son was born, they moved to Los Angeles, California in 1952. They had 3 daughters in Los Angeles and the family remained in Southern California for the rest of their lives. Rita was a woman of many talents. She learned to sew and made most of the clothing for herself and her children, including wedding gowns. She was a gifted cake decorator and provided beautiful cakes for many family weddings, birthdays, and other occasions. She crocheted, knitted, and was a gifted artist with many paintings to her name. As a young mother, Rita spent her time in the home raising her 4 children. In 1970 she began working for J.C. Penney at the Tyler Mall in Riverside. She worked there until her retirement over 20 years later. Rita was a beloved grandmother and her grandchildren adored her. She was a woman of high morals and a great example and role model to her family and others. She loved people and made friends easily. She was well-loved, admired, and touched the lives of many, influencing them in a positive way. Her children were the envy of their friends and were told many times that they wanted Rita for their Mom as well. Rita passed away at home surrounded by her children. She is survived by her son, John Reedy, daughters Sondra Richards, Kathleen Faris and Patricia Gernertt, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, her brother George Clark, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Reedy, in 2002. "Her children rise up and call her blessed."
