Robert E Greenan, 88 of Riverside California died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday December 6th, 2020. Robert was born February 24th, 1932 to Patrick and May McKeever Greenan in Chicago Illinois. Robert, known as Bob to many who him, grew up in Chicago with his 7 other brothers and sisters, Cyril, Kathleen, Arthur, John, Eileen, Mary Alice and Patricia, After graduating high school, he left to attend college at the University of Montana where he majored in Forestry. During his time at College he met the girl of his dreams, Violet, and they were married in 1953. After College he began his career in the United States Air Force where he excelled as a Navigator on the B-52, In 1968 he served a tour of duty overseas during the Vietnam War. Robert received many accommodations during his career which include: Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Readiness Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Robert continued to excel in many different positions within the Air Force and really looked forward to his goal of being a base commander which became a reality in 1977 in Holbrook Arizona, again excelling for 7 years until his retirement in 1984. After his retirement from the Air Force he partnered with his friend Don in the Travel Agency business. He then went on to work in the wholesale club business as a team leader over the tire department with Pace Membership Warehouse. He retired for good in 1990 to spend the rest of his life with Violet visiting children, and grandchildren in various states. Robert and Violet were married for 62 years until her death in 2016. Robert is survived by his brother Cyril and wife Denise of Chicago Illinois, daughter Rose and Partner Greg of Pagosa Springs Colorado, His son Tim and daughter in law Jody of San Bernardino Ca, son John and daughter in law Karen of Enid Ok, son Michael and daughter in law Karen of Jacksonville FL, daughter Judith and son in Law Jim of Yakama WA.
