Robert James Joor

Robert James Joor, whose family owned Joor Bros. Welding for more than six decades, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 67. Bob was born on Sept. 28, 1953, to Garrett and Betty Joor of Corona. He attended Corona High School and graduated class of 1971. After high school, Bob began working at his family's Corona-based business on Smith Street and started dating Sharon Lykins of Riverside. Bob and Sharon married on May 14, 1977. They made their home in Corona and had two boys, Robert Garrett Joor and Ryan James Joor. Bob and his brother, Bill, took over the day-to-day operations of Joor Bros. in the early 1980s and oversaw nearly four decades of growth and prosperity for the business and their families. To say Bob had steel in his veins is an understatement. He enjoyed working with his hands and when he wasn't running his business, Bob could be found doing home improvement projects, working on one of his many classic cars, or riding quads and ATVs in Glamis with his family. He was a car-enthusiast, who amassed an impressive collection of modern and classic cars. Bob dedicated a significant portion of his life caring for his wife Sharon who had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He was Sharon's sole caregiver until her death in 2005. Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his wife, Sharon. He is survived by his sons, Robby (Jennifer) and Ryan (Brandi), and six grandchildren: Ashley, Robby, Garrett, Lilly, Jacob & Nicolas. A memorial service for Bob will take place Friday, Aug. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at the Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona. In lieu of flowers, friends and family can make a donation in Bob's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
