Robert LeRoy Stanard, 77 of Riverside, CA passed away April 19, 2021. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will live on in their celebrated memories. He leaves behind Bonnie, his wife of nearly 55 years; children Troy, Todd & Tricia; son & daughters in law Bill Kesselring, Carla & Traci Stanard; 6 grandchildren who called him "Papa," Natalia, Trenon, Isabela, Jaston, Taithn & Toby, and many friendships. Bobby was born in Long Beach, CA on July 9, 1943 and lived in Riverdale, CA until he was 11. He then moved to Corona until he enlisted in the US Army Reserves from 1965 to 1969. A year after marriage he moved to Riverside where he raised his family and spent the rest of his life with Bonnie. He spent memorable and enjoyable years at Corona High School where he was a varsity letterman in Football, Basketball & Track. His love of sports, discipline and organization were evident in his years of coaching, mentoring, & competing. In the early 90's, he found his natural passion for HIS sport and fell in love with golf. Organizing golf outings, heading to the driving range and enjoying special golf trips showed his love for the sport. His love for golf was solidified when golf paid him back on the 143 yard, 17th hole at Sierra Lakes on September 7, 2016 with a Hole In One. His desire for doing things to perfection allowed him to work for 29 years with the phone company where he started as an Installer and finished as an Outside Plant Engineer. He then accepted an early retirement when he was only 47. He could not sit still and became an entrepreneur, starting Communication Cable Systems, working in the phone industry. He finally retired to traveling, playing golf & spending time with Bonnie. Their travels allowed them two trips to Europe, RVing across the country and many trips to San Clemente Beach Campground. Time with Bonnie was spent dining out, visiting the beach and playing cards with friends, neighbors & Flaming Spoons Dinner Club. Hand & Foot, and 3 to 13 were among his favorite card games as evident with their score sheets dating back almost a decade. Bobby touched many lives as he was one of the sweetest & nicest men people knew, he was a true treasure. The love and stories since his passing has opened the family's eyes to the impact he had on many young men as they shared, he was an example of the type of father they have tried to become. They've heard how others have relied on him for friendship and support. They have heard how he went the extra mile for people in their time of need. All of the stories confirm what a delicate treasure Papa was to so many, especially his wife, children and grandchildren! He will be remembered every day through the lives he touched and the example he was.
