On May 4, 2023, Mike was released from his mortal sojourn to be reunited with his Heavenly Father and the family, friends, and team members that preceded him in death. Mike was born April 21, 1955, in San Fernando California to K Robert Trout and Marian Sylvia Herran. Mike was raised in Sylmar California with his two brothers Ken and Rick. There he attended and graduated from Sylmar High School, Class of 1973. During this time scouting was an important part of his life, he earned his Eagle Scout and became a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mike and his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1965. He served a two-year mission to the Philippines from 1976-1978. While there he truly came to love the people of the Philippines, as well as the country. Later in life he would return there to serve others after a disastrous typhoon hit. Upon returning from his mission Mike moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. It was there that Mike met his future bride, Bonnie, on his first day in Provo before the semester ever started. Mike and Bonnie were married in April 1980. Just two years later they welcomed their first child Christina in 1982. Mike graduated from BYU in 1984. Over the years they moved to California, then Arizona, then back to California. During these years Mike worked for McDonnell Douglas and Northrup and served his country from 1985-1991 during trying times. Their family also grew during these years with the births of three sons Jonathan (1985), Stephen (1987), and Nathan (1989). Mike and Bonnie brought their family to Riverside, CA in 1988. He later worked for the Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Bernardino for 22 years, retiring in 2013. While in Riverside Mike held many church callings, including Bishop of the Arlington Heights Ward. He loved serving others, which he continued to do until he passed. One of the greatest callings Mike held in life though, was becoming a grandpa. He was meant for that, and loved every single one of his grandchildren, creating special bonds with each of them. Spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them skills, playing games, especially Uno, and creating memories, were some of the greatest and most important moments of his life. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, five grandparents, and an uncle. He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 43 years; one daughter Christina Magleby, and sons Jonathan Trout, Stephen Trout (Lacie), and Nathan Trout; two brothers Richard Trout (Linda) and Kenneth Trout (Cyndi); one uncle, Jim Herran; two aunts, Cheryl Herran and Joan Trout; cousins, nephews, nieces, and 10 grandchildren: Zachary and Colin Magleby; Porter, Delilah, Elise, and Freya Trout; Anderson, Millie, and Hazel Trout; and Reighlynn Trout. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thomas Miller Mortuary in Riverside, California. Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4375 Jackson Street, Riverside CA.
