Roberta Rae MacGregor (Bobbie) of Corona, California died peacefully on Friday morning, February 20, 2015. She was 76. Bobbie was born December 22, 1938 to Charlotte and Raymond Schwoebel in the windy city of Chicago, Illinois. She graduated in 1956 from Main Township High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. Bobbie was a stewardess for United Airlines back in the early 60s when the girls had to be tall, thin and single. She loved flying and the excitement of travel that her position gave her. She particularly enjoyed a layover in London where she learned to drink tea like the English. She traveled to Switzerland and France for a ski trip with a girlfriend once, which showed her spirit of travel and adventure early on. While attending night class in college, she met her future husband, L.J. MacGregor II (Mac) and fell in love. Mac asked Bobbie to marry him through the mail. He had moved to California and wanted her to join him. After marrying on August 3, 1963, they started their family with the birth of their daughter Laura, son L.J. III (Skip) and daughters Susan and Jane. Their children were raised in Glendora where Bobbie volunteered for several community and sports that her children were involved with. She was on the Ladies Auxiliary for the Little League, and a Girl Scout Leader. She was also a parent booster for the Glendora High School Band, Glendora High School Choir, and Glendora High School Pep Club. Bobbie loved singing as a choir member of the Glenkirk Presbyterian Church. Never thinking that age could prevent her from reaching goals, she received her AA degree from Citrus College in 1986 and finished her Bachelors degree in business in her early 50s from National Louis University. Bobbie was passionate about sewing as she created several prom and dance dresses for her girls. She recently sewed several special aprons for her family in Illinois who all have passions for cooking and musical instruments. Professionally, Bobbie was proud of her work at Jet Propulsion Laboratory during the 1980s and served on several well-known JPL programs, such as Voyager and Galileo, as well as providing logistics and configuration management support at Hughes and Telos Corporation. Her personal support of the US troops came from not only having her husband serve as a Marine but also in an administrative capacity to several Army officers over the course of her career. When Bobbie lived in New Mexico; her handmade winter hats were donated to a local family shelter. Bobbie is survived by her sister Judith Nielsen (Peter), brother James Schwoebel (Debbie) and her four children: Laura, Skip (Chia), Susan and Jane (Robert) Lavin; and her five grandchildren: Madison and Emily Lavin, Lauren MacGregor, Kyle and Jarod Johnson, as well as her beloved grand dog Stetson Lavin.
