Today we do not to say goodbye to our husband and dad, Roger Michael Moisant, but we say "Bon Voyage", instead, as he departs for the most glorious fishing trip, in the Kingdom of God, with Roscoe, his beloved dog, by his side. Roger was born on June 9, 1946 to Richard and Barbara Moisant in Los Angeles, CA. He departed this world on January 1, 2021 in Los Angeles. It is difficult, at best, to attempt to honor Dad in words. In this instance, they fall so far below the mark that we feel it is almost futile to try. Here is our futile attempt: Dad loved life, fishing, hunting, camping, bowling, his friends, working on cars, and most importantly his wife Cecilia; each of his kids: Derek, Brenna and Nicki; all of his grandchildren: Austin, Michael, Samantha, Mia, Aria, Rohan, Megan, Mina, Joseph (AKA Jo-jo), and Matthew; and his sister, Janis Moisant-Branca and brother Steve Moisant. Dad's friends have their own private memories of him-not as a father, but as a fun-loving man with a gregarious laugh and a great smile, that was always willing to lend a hand to anyone needing it. They no doubt remember the man that would help them repair their cars, or do some welding for them, that's code for hanging out in the garage, drinking Miller Lite, and smoking Marlboro lights (what can we say, he was health conscious). We learned a lot from Dad and would like share a bit of his wisdom: First, life has two roads, an easy one and a hard one, choose wisely. Second, if you want something, you have to work hard for it. Nothing in life is free. Finally, make sure your reel is securely attached to your rod. It's mighty hard to reel in a whopper when your reel is sitting at the bottom of a lake. Dad did that on one of his fishing trips with Grandpa. He did get the reel back after several minutes of pulling up fishing line, and tons of colorful language. We truly appreciate all of you for taking time from your busy lives to remember Dad, Roger Michael Moisant, and for giving us an opportunity to tell you a little bit more about him. We know he would be honored to be remembered so fondly. We do know that somewhere, in heaven, Dad is smiling down at us and wishing us well, while he and Roscoe relax in his boat, catching the big ones. We love you, Dad.
