Roger Lyle Thompson, 80, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in Chino Hills, California. Born on April 30, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota, Roger lived a life marked by kindness, curiosity, and deep appreciation for the world around him.
Roger was a gentle and caring soul whose warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His radiant smile and generous spirit were constants throughout his life. He found joy in the simple pleasures—especially those that brought him closer to nature.
An outdoor enthusiast, Roger loved hiking Mt. Islip with his sister Pam, cycling sections of the Lewis and Clark Trail, canoeing Manzanita Lake in Lassen National Park, and sharing hikes with his nieces and dear friends Henrietta and Lupe.
Roger had a lifelong passion for U.S. history and Native American art. His collection reflected not only artistic appreciation but a deep respect for tradition and storytelling.
Above all, golf was Roger’s greatest passion. From early adulthood through his later years, he could often be found on the course with lifelong friends Bill and Steve. Their decades-long bond was among his most cherished.
Roger was also proud of completing the Baker to Vegas run—an achievement that reflected his adventurous and determined spirit.
Family meant everything to Roger. He held a special place in his heart for his sister Pamela Menegazzi; nieces Elisa Bahkshi, Rachelle Larocca, Angie Frederick, and April Rice; and nephew Erino Menegazzi. Holidays spent together, especially decorating his Christmas tree, remain treasured memories.
Roger was preceded in death by his father Roger Thompson, mother Doris Thompson, and sister Pamela Menegazzi.
May Roger’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with grace, generosity, and quiet strength. He exemplified the essence of a true gentleman and will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
