My mother, Rosalina Gardano, was the youngest of 8 children, born to a tobacco farmer in Candelaria, Cuba, on August 30, 1920. After becoming an adult, she moved to Havana in search of work and a change of life, where she met my father, Julio. They married in June, 1955, and gave birth to 2 daughters, myself and sister Lily.
