On October 9, 2023, a day shy of her 60th birthday, Rosemarie Sarkis passed away in her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with breast cancer. She was brought to peace at the end of her time of pain and is now with God.
Rosemarie was born on October 10, 1963 in Egypt and spent her childhood in Lebanon with her mother, brother, and her father, Maroun Sarkis, who passed away when Rosie was 11 years old. She earned a degree in psychology in Lebanon before going to the United States where she earned multiple Masters in Theology and Foreign Languages. She became a French Professor at Riverside Community College for almost 3 decades and was fulfilled by that career for the rest of her life, continuing to teach online up until she passed.
Rosie loved to go to Mass Daily, had a tremendous faith in God, and was very involved in the Catholic Church. She loved to entertain her family and friends, playing games she made up herself, planning tea parties, and hosting other family gatherings in her home. She loved her home country of Lebanon and loved her family more than anything. Rosie made friends anywhere she went and loved bringing everyone together. Easter was her favorite Holiday, which she hosted in her home for the past several years for the entire family, making sure to have a fun Easter Egg hunt for the kids.
Rosie is survived by her mother, Therese Sarkis, her brother Joseph Sarkis and his wife, Diana Sarkis, her nieces, Desiree and Jasmine Sarkis, along with the rest of her Sarkis/Saliba family. They were all present with her in her home on her final day, accompanied by countless other family members. Rosie was loved by so many and will be missed everyday and will be forever in our hearts.
