Rosemary A. Moore November 6, 1928-May 6, 2023 Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Rosemary Agnes Moore passed peacefully on May 6, 2023 in Corona, California at the age of 94 years. She joins her husband and our father Kenneth L. Moore, who predeceased her on January 10, 2018. We have no doubt they are celebrating their reunion in Heaven. Rosemary leaves behind daughter Karen Stein (Bill), son Kenny "Skip" (Cheryl), daughter Karol Schmer (Ron), 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rosemary was born in Washington, D.C. during the Great Depression to Thomas B. Hurdle, a police officer and Emily Sauer, a homemaker. She was the fifth of six children in the family. The family was raised near our Nation's Capitol Mall in a three-story brick townhome that still stands in a Historical District. Rosemary shared stories of watching parades honoring numerous presidents and dignitaries, including Queen Elizabeth. She attended Catholic Schools from First Grade to 12th grade, leaving midway through her Senior year to protest what she perceived to be unfair treatment of a classmate by nuns. She enrolled herself in public school to complete her high school education. Although she was a good student, only in boys in the family were allowed to attend college. Rosemary worked as a telephone switchboard operator in the D.C. area. She donned roller skates to quickly move back and forth across switchboard lines. It was at a roller rink that she met her future husband Ken, an air traffic controller at nearby Bolling Field Air Force Base. They married and moved to the West Coast, eventually settling in Corona, California in 1961. They developed deep friendships with several fellow Coronans and were involved in numerous community organizations. Rosemary was Ken's sweetheart and number one supporter. She was at his side when he became the Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club (national level) for the 1994-95 term. They traveled the US extensively that year. When not traveling for Elks events, Ken and Rosemary enjoyed camping, traveling with friends and spending time in Idaho at their vacation home. They enjoyed weekly card games with friends for many years. Rosemary enjoyed monthly lunch outings with her close group of women friends who called themselves "The Dirty Dozen". Rosemary will be remembered for her sense of humor and fun loving nature. She was a loving mother with high expectations for her children. Thank you, Mom for your strict but wise guidance. You can rest in peace knowing you did a great job raising your family. Rosemary's family is grateful for the loving care provided to her by the Caregivers at Inspirations Home Care. The funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elks National Foundation, the Corona Elks Lodge 2045 or the California Elks Major Project.
