Ruben Muro Montejano

Our beloved, Ruben "Jiggers" Montejano, left us on December 30th, 2024, he was 63 years old.

 Born in Corona, CA, he attended Vicentia Elementary, Letha Raney Jr High and graduated from Corona High in 1979. As a young boy, he played for the American Little League and was a member of the Corona Boys Club where he competed and earned trophies for numerous tournaments in chess, checkers, pool and other games. At an early age he helped his older brother, George, deliver newspapers for the Press Enterprise. He went on to work for a short time at the local Der Wienerschnitzel and then the famous Silver Dollar Pancake House. He received his AA in Fire Science from Mt San Antonio College, Pomona and did volunteer work for the local forestry. In 1984, Ruben joined the electrical apprenticeship for IBEW and went on to become a Journeyman for local 477, where he retired in 2016. 

Ruben was a lifelong member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, vacationing with family and loved listening to music, especially oldies but goodies and his ultimate favorite, Elvis Presley. Being a true sportsman, he enjoyed watching baseball, golf and most importantly his Green Bay Packers football team. 

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, George R. and Lupe Montejano. He is survived by his son, Ruben Michael. Brother George Jr. and wife Shirley. Two sisters, Patty Cortez and husband Greg, Vicky Galvan and husband Jesse and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

Ruben had a big warm heart. He was friendly, easy going and always willing to help everyone. He touched the lives of all who encountered him. He was and will always be loved. Although we know he is in Heaven with our Lord and was greeted with open arms by his parents, he will be missed. May his story never end, and his legacy be a blessing we will carry in our hearts forever.

The Montejano family invites you to join them for a memorial service and rosary at Thomas Miller Mortuary, Corona, on Tuesday, January 14 from 4:00 - 8:00pm. A mass will be held at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Corona, on Wednesday January 15 at 10:00am with a burial to follow at Sunnyslope Cemetery.
