With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Rudy Jacob Realo. Surrounded by loved ones, he died peacefully on January 5, 2025 at home in Corona, California, after a yearlong struggle with cancer. It was his 83rd birthday.
Rudy was born on January 5, 1942 in Albay, Legazpi City, Philippines to Rosendo Gumba Realo and Teofila Jacob Realo. He graduated from the University of the East with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Rudy worked for Mobil Oil in Manila where he met and immediately fell in love with his beautiful Minia whom he adored. She was the love of his life. They married in 1967 and soon after, had 2 daughters—Trixie and Aila. Rudy immigrated to the United States in February 1970 and then brought his family later that year, in the hopes of a better life. He realized that dream and made a wonderful life in California, which he called home for 55 years. Rudy was an industrious, fun-loving and devout father and husband. He was a man of great character and religious faith. He was a talented financial executive and entrepreneur with impeccable taste and vision. He built custom homes in Temecula and his closet was the envy of any menswear maven. He was a reliable friend, trusted adviser, generous with family and friends and always punctual. He had a playful sense of humor and was the guy who knew how to throw a good party. Later in life, he travelled the world (a lifelong pursuit) with his wife, extended family and friends. He enjoyed cruises, golf, cooking, a good meal, a good laugh, watching the stock market, and most of all, family time.
He is much loved and will be dearly missed by Minia, his dedicated wife of 57 years, two daughters Trixie Realo and Aila Lindsay, son-in-law Bill Lindsay, grandsons Jacob Realo and Henry Lindsay, granddaughter Fia Lindsay, his brother Dr. Nelson Realo and wife Nancy, their children Jeff, Stephanie and Melissa, as well as many, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Novenas will be held via Zoom nightly until Monday, January 13:
