December 11, 1936 - July 28, 2016 Mr. Rupert Lawrence Bauer of Corona, California passed away at the age of 79 on Thursday, July 28, 2016. Rupert, who went by Larry, was born in Los Angeles, California on December 11, 1936 to Rupert and Dorothy Bauer. In his youth he enjoyed riding and caring for his horse. He transferred his love for horses into his job when he took work in 1955 for Disneyland Park, opening day, caring for the livestock. Shortly after he joined the Coast Guard where he was a Radioman third class. He was aboard the Coast Guard Cutter USS Pontchartrain when it made its historic rescue of a passenger plane, Pan American flight 943, which was forced to crash land into the Pacific Ocean. All 24 passengers and 7 crewmembers survived. Larrys livelihood was mostly in the alarm business, however, later in life he enjoyed a position at St. Matthews Catholic Church, from which he retired. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Alice C. Bauer. He is survived by his brothers Jay and Dave Bauer, his sons Tim, Chris, and Jerry Bauer, and his daughter Jennifer King. He also has 11 grand children: Alexandria, Abigail, Katie, Alayna, Zack, Xander, Nathan, Katie, Aliana, Ashton, Justin and Tyler. His funeral will be held at 10am following a viewing at 9am on August 9, 2016 at St. Matthews Church in Corona, California. Service St. Matthew Catholic Church 2140 W.
