Sam Palumbo, a beloved family man, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of many. His incredible vitality and strength throughout his 91 years is admired by all who knew him. Born on April 6, 1933, in Rochester, New York, Sam enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. Yet, his greatest joy and primary focus were always centered on his family.
For the last 45 years, Sam was a devoted husband and friend to his wife Diana. He was also a proud father of four children, three of whom are married to spouses he loved as his own. Together, Sam and Diana weathered many challenges, including supporting their youngest daughter through a brain injury. His love and dedication knew no bounds.
He is a proud grandfather to eight and a great grandfather to one. Sam also shared a special connection with Diana’s sister and her family, embracing his niece and nephew with the same love he showed his grandchildren. His lasting influence will be felt for generations.
Sam served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954. After receiving an honorable discharge, he made Southern California his home. Sam’s early career started in the aerospace industry as an engineer. He went on to become a general contractor. He built beautiful, custom homes and earned a phenomenal reputation for his craftsmanship before retiring in 2004.
Sam was an avid golfer who also loved boating, snow skiing, and flying. He shared these passions with many friends who admired him for his good nature and youthful spirit. He cherished his Italian heritage and loved hosting “Pasta Sundays”, where family and friends gathered for food, stories, and laughter.
As we say goodbye today, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the extraordinary life he led. His legacy lives on in the strength he imparted to us, in the love that binds our family together, and in the countless memories we hold dear.
