Sherry G Whitten

Sherry G. Whitten passed away February 7, 2026 in Corona, California. She was 86 years old.

Sherry was born in 1939 in rural Arkansas to Harvey & Bessie Whitten, the younger of two daughters. The family moved to California in 1944 and eventually settled in Bakersfield, where she graduated from High School. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State.

Sherry later enjoyed living in Southern California, making Corona her home.

She worked for Orange County in various departments over the years, retiring as a county inspector.

Sherry enjoyed bowling and league tournaments for decades, making lasting friendships.

She enjoyed nature and photography and creatively used those to make cards and annual calendars for family and friends.

Many years ago, Sherry put her faith in Jesus Christ as her savior, and that faith continued for the rest of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sarah, and brother-in-law Bob Hobbs.

She is survived by her niece, Nancy Johnson (Aaron), and her nephew, David Hobbs (Kristine).

The family is thankful for the caring staff at Valencia Terrace, and then the wonderful care at Amistad Assisted Living, and compassionate care from Blendship Hospice.

Burial is at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California.
