Born in Alhambra, CA on April 6, 1949, Susan S. Burmeister was the youngest of three siblings to Laura Edith and Leslie Curtis Clemmer. Her two older brothers are Leslie Clemmer, the eldest, and Paul Jonathon Clemmer. As a young girl Susan was dedicated to her studies and always a devote Christian attending church every Sunday with her family. Susan always had the kindest spirit and a smile that would brighten any room. She grew up a very adventurous kid who loved all living things. She had a deep love for animals, nature, and of course, her family. Susan lived with her family and attended school in El Monte, CA until moving to West Covina, CA in 1959 at the age of ten years old. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1967. After graduating, Susan had dreams of traveling the country as a flight attendant and pursued her career by attending Mount San Antonio College where she completed her AA degree. Upon attending college, she met the love of her life, Douglas Burmeister who happened to be attending a neighboring college, California Polytechnic Pomona as an Aerospace Engineer. The two were married on June 28, 1969 and instead of traveling the world as a flight attendant, Susan traveled the country with her husband whom enlisted into the United States Air Force. Douglas and Susan lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina for the later years of Douglas's enlistment and welcomed their two children, David Owen Burmeister born May 27, 1974 and Jennifer Leigh Burmeister born June 29, 1977. Shortly after their daughter was born, the family moved back to Corona, California where Susan and Douglas raised their two children. Living in California, Susan took up many hobbies and sports later in life. As a young child Susan grew up on the Colorado River with her family and was a tremendous water skier. Later in life she played many sports including soccer, softball, snow skiing and her most favorite, tennis. She had a love for tennis that carried through the rest of her life. She developed many friends along the years through sports, church, ceramics, China painting, and quilting. Susan was a very artistic woman with unbelievable skill in everything she did. She had a green thumb like no other and thoroughly enjoyed growing a plethora of plants, fruits and above all her roses. Susan always had a warm homecooked meal prepared for her family and was outstanding at cooking and baking. She welcomed everyone into her home as family and had the biggest heart imaginable. She was stronger, smarter, and more talented than she ever gave herself credit for. Susan was a gorgeous woman inside and out, had an amazing sense of humor, and to know her was to love her. Within the seventy-four years of Susan's life, she has touched and impacted so many lives in so many different ways but most of all, she has left her two children with the most amazing memories filled with love and the most incredible impression of what a true mother should be. Susan Burmeister was a blessing to all and will be truly missed by so many, most of all by her two children who know that there is no other like her. She is, and always will be, one of a kind that holds a special place in this world.
