Suzanne Jerep

April 19, 1935 — April 10, 2020

God selected the small village of Ozdin, Czechoslovakia to bring Suzanne (Jasko) Jerep into the world in the mid-1930's. She was the third of six children born to John and Jolana Jasko. The Jasko family left Czechoslovakia for the United States before Suzanne was two years old, bound for the Akron Ohio area. The Jasko family attended the "East Akron" Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarean), where Suzanne in due time was convicted of the need for Jesus to be her Savior and yielded her heart to Christ in her late teen years. A few years later, on November 25, 1956, she married William Jerep, a brother of the Apostolic Christian Church attending the "North Akron" congregation. Bill and Suzanne spent their first few years as a married couple in Akron, but shortly after the birth of their daughter Debbie, the couple was convinced of God to move to southern California in faith, with no promise of a job, and only a few dollars in their pockets when they crossed the California state line. Bill and Suzanne received help from fellow members of the ACC church family until Bill's previous employer, B. F. Goodrich, offered him an Industrial Engineering position at their East LA plant only a few short weeks after they arrived. Bill and family faithfully attended Apostolic Christian congregations in Pico Rivera, Lawndale, Pasadena (formerly Eagle Rock) and El Cajon, before Bill accepted work assignments that took the family to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Following an assignment that took the couple to Peru, South America for almost two years, Bill and Suzanne returned to their favorite state, and settled in Corona, California. Suzanne was a people person and found it natural to serve in the food and restaurant industries part-time for over 50 years while caring for her husband, children and home. How does one sum up a life that spans almost 85 years? Suzanne loved her Czechoslovakian heritage and her many Slovakian relatives, whom she visited as often as her pocketbook would allow. Traveling, a knack for engaging people, flashy clothes and singing were her top passions. Especially in her later years, she admired small children, often giving them a dollar, or convincing most of them to give "Aunt Suzie" a kiss on the cheek. Suzanne loved ice cream cakes, Wendy's frosties and sweets, in general. It was rare for her to pass up the chance to drop into a See's Candy store for her free samples. The number one hobby of her life was metal detecting. With her husband Bill, they could often be seen in public parks or beaches, ultimately finding tens of thousands of buried coins and jewelry items. Suzanne came into the world on the Good Friday of April 19, 1935 in Ozdin, former Czechoslovakia. She slipped away from the world in her sleep on Good Friday April 10, 2020 in Escondido, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jolana, her husband "Bill", her sister Joanne, and her brothers Johnny and Georgie. She is survived by her sisters Mary Puraty (Dave) of Tennessee and Goldie Rininger (Larry) of Ohio; children Gary Jerep (Vesna) and Deborah Jerep, both of California; and grandchildren Danielle Piticaru (Sam) and Jonathan Jerep.
